Yes, it is that time of the year again to practice my writing in English as I have been blessed with the amazing wedding of Marcia and David, a Dutch English couple that choose Amsterdam for their wedding day. Marcia and I go way back, I mean like early zeroes, Y2K fashion, parties at the jam in Utrecht. We met each other through a mutual friend during out studies. The mutual friend stayed and so we kept running into each others life every other occasion and over the past years this most of the times has been weddings.
When announcing her engagement I was immediately crossing my fingers and when she and husband to be David reached out I couldn’t be more happier. So holiday plans were rescheduled and my calendar got marked for their big day.
Because when you meet Marcia you can not not fall in love with this women. She has such a bright spirit. Someone that is honest, open and has the biggest heart for everyone around her. But this also perfectly applies on David. I met him at the wedding of Jody and Lou a few years ago and he is the kind of men you just feel at ease with from the second you meet him. His sense of humor and big heart make you feel like you already know each other for a long time. And with this in mind – and heart – I could not not look more forward to this wedding.
Getting ready at Unbound Amsterdam
Marcia and David that both live in England invited people from all over the world and Amsterdam became the decor for their day. The Rijk van de Keizer – which has a special place in my heart as I got married there myself – was the place for them to say the big I do. We started the day just a few minutes away from the location at the Unbound. An amazing holiday park containing all kinds of cottages a little pound and even a mini beach. The perfect setting to start the day. Marcia and her bridesmaids got ready at one cottage and David and his best men and his place. There were mimosa’s, kids, amazingly tailored suits and a lot of laughter. In the middle of the park is was time for their big reveal. Reunited it was time for the photoshoot and after that preparing for the ceremony.
Ceremony Rijk van de Keizer
As the guests arrived at Rijk van de Keizer it was time for the ceremony. The morning rain was taken over by the sun and a dry amphitheater was waiting for us. The perfect outdoor setting filled with colored umbrella’s. Beautiful words were spoken, vows exchanged, the occasional todler distraction and a loud I do!
We left the ceremony to continu our day at the terrace. Pimm’s cocktails were served, cheers and hugs were shared. All ingredients were there for the perfect afternoon reconnecting with friends and family.
Summer night meets disco unicorn
After a nice diner with amazing food and wonderful speeches it was time for the party! DJ Gio Brown was ready to take the party up a notch. And while a unicorn and disco ball were floating at the ceiling underneath it all the guests danced, laughed and at the terrace more connections and good conversations were held. It was the perfect summer night that finally arrived at the Netherlands. Brought to us by these two amazing human beings. It was their love that made it all happen. Brought everyone together and created this wedding that will be remembered for a very long time.
Dear Marcia and David, thank you so much for having me I had an absolute amazing day with the both of you. Love and laughter will forever will in my mind thinking of you.
